TAROT FOR BEGINNERS · START WHERE YOU ARE
How to read tarot
without feeling overwhelmed.
You do not need to memorize every card before you begin. Start with what you see, connect it to a thoughtful question, and let the guidebook add a deeper layer over time.
What is tarot?
Tarot is a 78-card symbolic system with 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards. The Major Arcana explores larger chapters and turning points. The Minor Arcana brings the focus to feelings, choices, communication, work, relationships, and ordinary life.
Your first tarot reading
- Choose an open question such as “What deserves my attention today?”
- Shuffle in any comfortable way. There is no required ritual.
- Draw one card and describe the image before looking up its meaning.
- Read the card’s keywords and notice what connects to your question.
- Write one small action or reflection in your own words.
Do reversed cards matter?
An upside-down card may suggest inward, delayed, blocked, or developing energy. Beginners can read every card upright until they feel ready. Consistency matters more than choosing one “correct” method.
Which spread should a beginner use?
A one-card check-in is the clearest place to start. Move to three cards when you want to explore context, focus, and a next step. Crowned & Guided includes layouts from one through seven cards so your practice can grow with you.
